Our District Team

The District Chairperson’s responsibilities are centered around the District meeting. The Chair sets the tone for the meeting, ensures all the issues on the agenda are addressed, keeps order, and also maintains a good working relationship with other officers, the DCM, and the committee chairs.

Treasurer is responsible for receiving, dispersing and reporting on funds for the District. These revenues are generated by donations from the groups. Funds are dispersed as directed by the District Service Committee. 

Maintains accurate meeting minutes of District business meetings, and keeps accurate and up-to-date listings of District officers (GSR’s, committee heads, DCM, etc.). 

Each group elects one General Service Representative to act as a liaison between the district and the meeting, sharing key pieces of information and helping to guide AA as a whole.

The Accessibilities Committee carries the AA message and information about the fellowship to those who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hearing impaired, chronically ill or homebound, and those with limited reading skills. Committee members explore, develop and offer alternatives to make the AA message and participation in our program available to everyone who reaches out for it.

Gathers and maintains historical material about the fellowship. This material consists of pictures, books, articles, buttons and Grapevine, and shares these historical documents at conventions and meetings

The CPC (Cooperation with Professional Committee) informs professionals about AA – what we are, where we are, what we can do and what we cannot do. Members attempt to establish better communications between AA entities and professionals to find productive and creative ways of cooperating without affiliating. The professional community may include doctors, clergy, judges, therapists and probation officers, or any other professional who comes into contact with an alcoholic.

The purpose of the corrections committee is to coordinate the work of individual A.A. members who are interested in carrying our message of recovery to alcoholics behind the walls. The corrections committee for District 8, Area 32 take A.A. meetings into Livingston County Jail and  Woodland Correctional Facility.

A.A. members that carry our message to alcoholics behind the walls of correctional facilities understand that they always do so within the regulations of such facilities.

Maintains and manages Grapevine and AA Conference approved literature availability to the groups and members of District 8. 

To help save on shipping costs, groups and individuals can order literature in any quantities from the district 8 Literature Committee. The Literature Committee performs functions such as helping to assemble newcomer packets. They also store literature such as meeting guides.

Encourages A.A. members to assume responsibility for carrying the message into hospitals and treatment facilities. A.A. members state-wide contact list for people in treatment is being developed. Bridges the gap through workshops and working with treatment center staff to establish beginners' meetings and direct the flow of patients to A.A. meetings.

Website manager updates the site on a regular basis with new meeting information, event fliers, and works with our email. The website managers helps in creation of district communications.
